New Neighbor
By Clara Stevens – February 2019
I first noticed something was a little off the day he moved in. I mean, the fact that very little people were moving all of his belongings and boxes into the house was suspect enough. I don’t mean very few people I mean very little people. What is this guy doing with all these little people? And then I saw the logo “little people moving company” and decided to let it go. I mean the top hat and the forked-back waist coat was also a bit unnerving but people can be eccentric so I decided not to stare. It wasn’t until one of the little people tripped on an imperfection on the Sidewalk and almost lost his footing so that the comparably large box fell, partially opened releasing a strange cacophony of light and music for a brief moment. The little person just as startled but more frightened than me closed the box up and brought it doubletime into the house. Other than these curiosities, moving day for Mr. Wonka was no more smooth or frustrating than any other moving day.
